2023 Quarterly Report 2

This quarterly report contains reminders on the ACP summerschool, CP conference and CP2025 bids, and also informs you on the ongoing DEI surveys and a call for papers for the CP workshop. We also report on two sponsoring activities of the ACP: we sponsor an incubator workshop at CP as well as sponsoring the CPAIOR conference.

ACP.1: CP 2023 in Toronto, and call for workshop papers

CP is the premier international event for presenting research in all aspects of computing with constraints, including, but not restricted to: theory, algorithms, environments, languages, models, systems, and applications. CP 2023 will be held in-person in Toronto at the University of Toronto St. George campus (Downtown), August 27-31, 2023.

The paper submission deadline is over, and registration is open with early registration deadline 30 July.

There will be 4 workshops as well as the yearly Doctoral Program

The call for workshop papers is open:

We warmly encourage you to submit to the workshops, and to encourage doctoral students to apply to the doctoral program.

ACP.2: ACP Summer School in Leuven

The ACP Summer School has the theme "Machine Learning for Constraint Programming" and will be hosted in Leuven, Belgium from 10 July to 14 July.

The program includes seminars and hands-on lab sessions from key researchers in the field. See the program and more information at: https://school.a4cp.org/summer2023/

ACP.3: Call for bids for CP 2025

The ACP Executive Committee (EC) holds the annual International Conference on Principles and Practice of Constraint Programming (CP). Since the ACP plans CP conferences two years in advance, we now solicit bids for CP 2025. If you are interested in organising a future CP conference, then you need to make a proposal to the Conference Coordinator of the EC (conf-coordinator@a4cp.org) by the 1st of June 2023.

More information was sent to all ACP members, also available at: https://www.a4cp.org/node/1427

ACP.4: DEI surveys

As part of the organization of CP 2023, Andreína Francisco and Andrea Rendl have set up a new diversity survey and a new equity & inclusion survey. These surveys are improved versions of those distributed last year based on your feedback as well as feedback from The Unit for Quality and Evaluation at Uppsala University.

Diversity survey (1–2 min): https://sunet.artologik.net/uu/Survey/626
Equity and inclusion survey (5–10 min): https://sunet.artologik.net/uu/Survey/625

Why 2 separate surveys? We aim to learn more about the CP community without compromising anybody's identity. We believe that 2 separate surveys will provide the information that we need while also helping us to provide anonymity.

ACP.5: Sponsoring

The ACP sponsors a number of activities that promote the use of CP and dissemination of CP research. For example, we sponsor part of the ACP summer school.

In the past quarter we agreed to sponsor two activities:

  • A CP incubator workshop: An Incubator Workshop should address a promising novel topic, be multi-disciplinary in nature, and have the aim to broaden the application of CP or deepen its methodologies. The ACP makes 1,500 euros available for this purpose.

  • CPAIOR 2023: The 20th International Conference on the Integration of Constraint Programming, Artificial Intelligence, and Operations Research. Nice, France May 29-June 1, 2023.
