2026 Quarterly Report 1

In this quarterly report 1, we provide updates on CP 2026, Summer School 2026, DEI opportunities, calls and much more.

ACP.1: CP 2026

The 32nd CP conference will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 20th to 23rd of July 2026, as part of FLoC 2026 (https://www.floc26.org/).

Registration is open! Early bid rates end on 15 May.

ACP.2: Summer School 2026

The ACP Summer School 2026 will be hosted by Jilin University and held in Changchun, China, August 24-28, 2026. It is organized by CP community members Peter Stuckey and Jimmy Lee.

Registration is open!

More information is available at https://school.a4cp.org/summer2026/index.html

ACP.3: DEI opportunities

The ACP shares the policy of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) on diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe that ACP’s greatest strengths come from the people who make up our community. The ACP is committed to fostering an inclusive community with opportunities for all participants without regard to age, religion, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. We strive to remove barriers and obstacles that limit participation, and we work to uncover biases that create unfair practices.

For this reason, every year we offer DEI opportunities, including DEI scholarships to support individuals from underrepresented groups. These scholarships provide financial assistance to cover conference attendance costs, including registration fees, travel, and accommodation.

More information is available at https://cp2026.a4cp.org/dei.html and https://school.a4cp.org/summer2026/

ACP.4: Call for Awards (deadline extension)

Every year, the Association for Constraint Programming recognizes individual community members who are making outstanding contributions to the field.

This year we have three different awards, for researchers of different seniority:

  • The Doctoral Research award: for researchers that obtained their PhD in the last 2 calendar years (i.e., official completion in 2024-01-01 to 2025-12-31).
  • The Early Career Research award: for rising stars that obtained their PhD 2-8 years ago (i.e., 2018-01-01 to 2023-12-31).
  • The Distinguished Service award: for established members who have made exceptional contributions to the CP community.

For each award, a nominator has to submit an official nomination for a colleague, and arrange for referees to submit separate reference letters, as described on the nomination forms below. The information required for the nomination and the rules for submission are specific to each award and it is the nominator's responsibility to submit the proper information and have referees submit reference letters.

We welcome nominations from you! Please take a moment to think of someone who would deserve such a wonderful recognition.

The deadline is May 10, 2026.

ACP.5: Call for Election Statements for the ACP Executive Committee (deadline extension)

We invite election statements from candidates for the Executive Committee (EC) of the Association for Constraint Programming (ACP).

The Executive Committee of the ACP determines the venue and chairs for the annual CP international conference. It also organizes and supports activities such as the ACP summer school, CP doctoral program, ACP quarterly reports and website, and manages the surplus from CP conferences, reinvesting it into the CP research community.

The election statement should contain a motivation of why you want to join the EC, and what EC activities and focus points (existing or new) you would like to contribute to. Election statements will be posted on the ACP election site. Candidates must be ACP members. ACP membership is tied to CP conference and Summer School registrations, for three years. Alternatively, if you are interested in becoming a member of the Association for Constraint Programming, email the secretary miquel.bofill@udg.edu.

Please submit your election statements to the current ACP EC at acp-ec@googlegroups.com by May 10, 2026.

For more details on the election procedure and rules, refer to Bylaw 5 of the ACP Bylaws at https://www.a4cp.org/about/bylaws. EC members serve a four-year term, and the following will complete their term by the end of 2026: Gilles Pesant, Hélène Verhaeghe, Inês Lynce. Therefore, we shall run an election for three members to a four-year term. Elections will take place electronically in June, 2026. The results will be communicated to the ACP members before CP 2026. The Election Committee consists of Gilles Pesant, David Bergman, and Miquel Bofill (Chair).

We look forward to receiving your election statements!

ACP.6: Sponsoring

The ACP sponsors a number of activities that promote the use of CP and dissemination of CP research. For example, we sponsor part of the ACP summer school.

In the past quarter we agreed to sponsor the following events:

  • MIP 2026: The Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) Workshop is a single-track workshop highlighting the latest trends in integer programming and discrete optimization, with speakers chosen by invitation. The 23rd edition of the workshop will be hosted by University of Connecticut - Stamford Campus, USA, May 18-21, 2026.

  • CPAIOR 2026: The aim of CPAIOR is to bring together researchers from Constraint Programming (CP), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Operations Research (OR) to present new techniques, applications, and theoretical & practical insights from a wide array of problems, fostering opportunities for experts in one area to learn about techniques from the others. The 23rd edition of CPAIOR will take place in Rabat, Morocco, May 26-29, 2026.

ACP.7: CP applications showcase

A list of papers on CP applications presented at CP and CPAIOR conferences in the last three years has been added to the ACP website: https://www.a4cp.org/cp/application/papers

If someone has a recent application paper that we missed and would like to advertise, please send an email to the ACP secretary miquel.bofill@udg.edu.
